Other Exercises
Here are a few other ideas that don't really fit into any of the specific categories.
Include-A-Word
At the beginning of the meeting a word is chosen by the Chair or another member.
This word is then defined and examples of its use given.
Members try to include the word in each of the speeches or activies
during the meeting.
The word can be in common use or something more unusual. It may be written on a card and displayed as a reminder to everyone.
Distractions
Each member gives a short impromptu speech in turn.
The other members try to distract the speaker.
The distractions can be anything such as: coughing and sneezing; speaking to another member; walking out of the room or looking out of the window for a few seconds; disagreeing with a point made by the speaker; dozing off or making animal noises!
To avoid total chaos, some members will distract while others will listen to the speaker as normal. This can be controlled by picking written instructions from a hat at random. Ensure that enough members listen to the speaker to allow the chance of success and avoid complete mayhem!
Name Cards
Name cards may be placed on the table in front of each member
to remind others of everyone elses name.
This has the advantage that members get to know each other better
but its disadvantage is that members have no incentive to remember names.
A member may be given the challenge of handing out the name cards to other members (without any prompting). This activity can be introduced occasionally at random so that members need to be prepared in case they are chosen.
