Prepared Speeches

A speaker will normally be selected at the previous meeting so they have time to prepare and rehearse the speech.

At the meeting the speech will be delivered. Prepared speeches normally last around 5 minutes. For more experienced speakers this could be extended to 10 minutes.

Prepared speeches should be to a higher standard than other activities as the member has had time to be more thorough.

If a prepared speaker is unable to attend the meeting as planned, the Chair may ask for a volunteer to give a 5 minute impromptu speech.

Introduce The Speaker
A member may be chosen to introduce a main speaker. This would be a brief introduction to the speaker, the speech and the anticipation of hearing the speech. It can be a simple, brief statement or a mini speech in itself.

Vote Of Thanks
A vote of thanks may be given after a main speech. This would be a brief response to the content of the speech and the speaker's general presentation of it.
